2/28 Winter Storm Update: Enhanced Services to Be Suspended 3/1 at 7am

Thank You to ALL Who Have Sacrificed to Help Others Endure the Storm

Lake County, CA (February 28, 2023) – Recent days have brought significant snowfall, life-threatening temperatures, and other challenges, due to compounding winter weather events and weather-related power outages.  In consideration of these severe conditions, the County of Lake has provided additional community services, including Warming Centers and a 24/7 Hotline for Homebound Individuals.

With the National Weather Service (NWS) now reporting storm activity is slowing, some of those enhanced services will be suspended tomorrow morning (3/1), at 7am.

County Warming centers in Lower Lake and Middletown will again open this evening (Tuesday, 2/28) at 7pm:

  • Lower Lake Warming Center: Lower Lake Town Hall, 16195 Main St., Lower Lake, 95457 (Hours of Operation are 7pm-7am)
  • Middletown Warming Center: Middletown Senior Center, 21256 Washington St., Middletown, 95451 (Hours of Operation are 7pm-7am)

At both locations, visitors must register, and no pets, weapons, alcohol, or drugs are allowed.

Both centers are expected to close tomorrow (Wednesday, 3/1) at 7am.

For more information on these Warming Centers, call 707-533-3599.

The 24/7 community Hotline for Homebound Individuals (707-262-4421) will no longer be available as of 7am tomorrow (Wednesday, 3/1).

Thereafter, all non-emergency concerns that require Lake County Sheriff/Office of Emergency Services support, including those resulting from winter weather, should be routed to Dispatch, at 707-263-2690.  Please use 911 for emergency calls.

Many Lake County residents will be aware, additional rain and sleet is expected Saturday, March 4, through Sunday, March 5; further snowfall is possible, particularly at higher elevations.

Lake County Office of Emergency Services personnel will continue to assess weather conditions, and adjust their response level, as needed.

If enhanced services become available, or Warming Centers will reopen, those availabilities will be communicated at the appropriate time.

Thank you to all who have stepped up to support your households, neighbors, family, and friends.  The greatest strength of Lake County has always been the resilience of our residents, and the willingness of many to look beyond their own needs and serve their communities.  Your efforts, endurance, and community spirit are treasured and appreciated.
